April 5, 2010 – Ellen Puts Forward Motion on West End Visioning Process
Ellen is putting forth at Council this week a motion calling for a thorough visioning process for the West End as neighbours fight neighbours regarding new high rises and lack of community amenities. Read the motion.

March 29, 2010 – Council Approves Motion on Campaign Finance and Electoral Reform

March 19, 2010 – Campaign Finance and Electoral Reform

The results of a motion on campaign finance and electoral reform are coming to council next week (March 23 & 25), with recommendations to the BC Local Governments Election Task Force. The report includes the  recommendations submitted by the City and developed by a cross-party committee initiated by Ellen. Read more.

February 26, 2010 – Motion to End Racial Discrimination

Ellen has put forth a motion addressing racism and discrimination that will be discussed at the regular council meeting on Tuesday, March 2 at 2 p.m.  If you wish to speak to this motion, send an email to mayorandcouncil@vancouver.ca and then the city clerk will let you know when you will speak. February 26, 2010 – Motion to declare Vancouver a True Sport Community

At the regular council meeting this Tuesday March 2, 2010 Ellen is putting forth a motion to address the issue of Vancouver becoming a True Sport Community. Read the motion.

January 21, 2010 – Harassment-Free Workplace Policy

The Standing Committee of Council on City Services and Budgets unanimously passed Ellen’s motion regarding the Harassment-Free Workplace Policy. Read more

November 25, 2009 -Motion Regarding Assistance to Shelter Act

On Tuesday December 1, 2009 I am putting forward a motion to City Council concerning the Provincial government’s proposed Assistance to Shelter Act. This Act will, among other things, force homeless people into emergency shelters during extreme winter weather, whether they want to go or not. Read more.
